Laptop loans
Aston University staff and students can borrow laptops for use in the Library.
You will need to use your University username and password to log onto the University network.
Laptops are issued without a power cable or mouse - battery life is approximately 3 hours.

You can access your documents on the '(H)’ drive and you can use the Follow Me printing system.  Save your work regularly to a memory stick, or your home drive, as the battery life cannot be guaranteed.  If you need assistance using a Library laptop, please contact the ISA Help Desk


Self-service Laptop Cabinets

  • Laptops are available from the self-service laptop cabinets anytime the Library is open.
  • Laptops from the self-service cabinets are issued for 4 hours.
  • They are issued to you on your uniCARD - you will need your uniCARD to return your laptop.

Help desk Laptops

  • When there are no more self-service laptops available, a laptop can be issued to you from the Help desk on a “first-come, first-served” basis.
  • This service is available between the hours of 09:00 until 17:00 Monday to Friday. 
  • The laptops from the Help desk are issued from the time you take them out, until an hour before the Help desk closes on the day of issue.
  • You will need to present your uniCARD to staff on the Help desk when returning your laptop.

Terms of Use

  • If you return a laptop late, you will be charged fines of £2.00 an hour or part of an hour.  Laptops cannot be renewed.
  • You are responsible for the laptop while it is in your possession. Please do not take the laptop out of the Libraryexcept in case of evacuation.
  • If you lose or damage a laptop, or if it is stolen, the full replacement cost of £500 will be charged.  Do not leave it unattended even for short breaks.
