Library refurbishment 2010

At the heart of the campus

The first thing you will notice is a new glass entrance facing Aston Street, so that the Library, Business School and Main Building form a triangle at the heart of the campus. The new entrance area includes a lift and new staircase.  The colonnade along the new boulevard has been filled in and incorporated into the study space.

Social learning space

The entire ground floor has been reconfigured as a social learning space and pleasant cafe/vending area. This is now our major group study area and you will find a range of seating to meet your needs, plus meeting “pods” where you can work as a group in a more isolated atmosphere.  There are now two swipe-access study rooms for use by students registered with DANU.  There is a Library Help desk to support staff and students with their enquiries, but the emphasis is on self-service with three self-service machines available at all times.

First floor

The first floor now houses new staff offices, the printed journals and individual study carrels.  The Learning Development Centre is also based on the first floor.

Enhancements

A publicly accessible lift, new toilet facilities (with additional toilets on all 4  floors) and improvements to lighting, heating and ventilation were carried out during the refurbishment.
