Entry requirements for PhD opportunities

If you would like to apply for a PhD opportunity within the School of Life & Health Sciences:

  • You should have been awarded the UK equivalent of either a 1st or a 2:1 Honours degree in a relevant subject or have an MSc and/or similar award or experience deemed to provide evidence of research potential

Non-native speakers of English are normally also required to satisfy minimum English language requirements. Currently, these are:

  • IELTS: 7.0 (minimum of 6.5 in each section)

  • TOEFL:  620 (paper-based test) or 260 (computer-based test) or 105 overall  (Internet-based test).

  • PEARSON: 68 overall (minimum of 61 in each section).
