Aston Medication Adherence Study (AMAS)

Patients often find it difficult to take their medications as prescribed by their General Practitioner (GP), which can lead to deterioration in health and the possibility of increased hospital admissions.

The aim of our research, is to develop a model that will enable GPs to easily identify patients who are susceptible to not taking their medication, so that these patients can be supported.

Very soon approximately 4,000 patients will receive information packs inviting them to complete a very short ‘yes’/ ‘no’ questionnaire and another 2,000 patients will be contacted to ask them if they would like to attend discussion groups. Hear Chris Langley talking to Shanika Bajaj on Radio XL-Anjum Rafiq’s drive time show,  explaining why patient participation in the Aston Medication Study is vital.
