This cluster aims to focus on the use of medicines and devices in older people. Medicines and devices have considerable potential to significantly improve outcomes and quality of life in older people. However, conversely, older people are particularly susceptible to the adverse effects of medicine and devices.
Within this cluster we will aim to develop systems to ensure the safe and effective use of both medicines and devices.

Ian Maidment is a senior lecturer in clinical pharmacy. His research interest is medication safety in dementia and mental health, and he has published widely in this field.
