Aston University provides a welcoming and multi-cultural learning experience to approximately 10,000 students, many of whom live on our safe and friendly city centre campus. The University has more than 2,300 international students from over 120 countries studying a wide range of subjects.

Aston University's links with Egypt

Egyptian students have been studying at Aston for many years and each year we welcome many more new students. We currently have 21 Egyptian students studying at Aston University.

Academic staff regularly visit Egypt to work with our partner institutions including the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) and to take part in international conferences.

Arabic community on campus & in Birmingham

There is a very active Arab community on campus. There are a number of societies which may be of  interest to Iraqi students. The Arab Soc organises cultural and social events. 

There are also a number of societies which bring together students from similar religious backgrounds. Find out more about societies at Aston 

Birmingham is a multi-cultural city and there is a strong Arabic community. You'll find Arabic restaurants, music, dance and more in the city.

Undergraduate
Students taking the Thanaweya A'ama / Al Azhar general secondary school certificate are required to complete a foundation course.  The minimum requirement is 80% average with 80% in relevant subjects. 

Engineering and Science programmes will require specific subjects, but students from any stream can apply for courses in Aston Business School.

Postgraduate - Masters
You should have a high GPA from a relevant Bachelors degree for postgradaute admission. 

If you are applying for finance, engineering or science based subjects, you must have studied a similar field in your undergraduate degree.

There are a number of conversion courses in the Business School which will accept students from any subject background.

Postgraduate - MBA 

You can come from any subject background, but should have at least a high GPA from a relevant Bachelors degree and a minimum of three years post graduation managerial work experience, as stipulated by the Association of MBA (AMBA) requirements.

Postgraduate - Research 

Each of Aston's Schools of Study has a number of research groups with the potential to host PhD students. Research specialisms include finance, economics, marketing, organisational psychology, bioenergy, knowledge engineering, photonics, languages, biomedical sciences, neurosciences, health sciences and more.
