Aston University provides a welcoming and multi-cultural learning experience to approximately 10,000 students, many of whom live on our safe and friendly city centre campus. The University has more than 2,300 international students from over 120 countries studying a wide range of subjects.

Aston University's links with Spain

Spanish students have been studying at Aston for many years and each year we welcome many more new students. We currently have 29 Spanish students studying at Aston University.

Academic staff regularly visit Spain to work with our partner institutions, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Universidad de Granada, Universitat Pompeu Fabraand and many more to take part in international conferences.

Spanish community on campus & in Birmingham

ABS building

There is a very active Spanish community on campus. There are a number of societies which may be of particular interest to Spanish students. The Spanish Students' Society organises trips, cultural and social events.

There are also a number of societies which bring together students from similar religious backgrounds. Find out more about societies at Aston. 

Birmingham is a multi-cultural city and there is a strong Spanish community. You'll find Spanish restaurants, supermarkets, music, dance and more in the city.

Programmes with specific subject requirements request a score of 8.

Life & Health Sciences

  • Pharmacy - Titulo de Bachillaerato with an overall score of 8 plus 8 in Chemistry, Maths or Biology plus IELTS/TOEFL
  • Biology - Titulo de Bachillaerato with an overall score of 7 plus 8 in Biology plus IELTS/TOEFL
  • Psychology - Titulo de Bachillaerato with an overall score of 8 plus IELTS/TOEFL
  • Optometry - Titulo de Bachillaerato with an overall score of 9 plus 9 in Biology, Maths and Physics plus IELTS/TOEFL 

Engineering and Science subjects will require specific subjects, but students from any stream can apply for courses in Aston Business School.  

English language requirements for undergraduate courses.

Postgraduate - Masters

You sould have a Licenciado with a score of 9 (or 3 from Coplutense) from a recognised Spanish Higher Education institution plus sutiable English Language requirements. 

If you are applying for finance, engineering or science based subjects, you must have studied a similar field in your undergraduate degree.

There are a number of conversion courses in the Business School which will accept students from any subject background.

Postgraduate - MBA 

You can come from any subject background, but should have a Licenciado with a score of 9 (or 3 from Coplutense) from a recognised Spanish Higher Education institution plus sutiable English Language requirements and a minimum of three years post graduation managerial work experience, as stipulated by the Association of MBA (AMBA) requirements.

Postgraduate - Research 

Each of Aston's Schools of Study has a number of research groups with the potential to host PhD students. Research specialisms include finance, economics, marketing, organisational psychology, bioenergy, knowledge engineering, photonics, languages, biomedical sciences, neurosciences, health sciences and more.
