Undergraduate
Students with HKALE may be considered for year 1 entry. HKALE is considered comparable to UK A level on a subject for subject basis, except for mathematics and the sciences where grading in Hong Kong is considered to be one grade higher (i.e. grade C in HKAL Mathematics is considered equivalent to Grade B GCE A level).
Students with HKDSE may be considered for year 1 entry. Depending on the programme, we require students to achieve grades 544-555 to include at least two electives, with a minimum of 3 obtained in all other subjects.
If you have Higher Diploma or an Associate Degree from a recognised Hong Kong university/college , you may be considered for direct admission to the second year of undergraduate programmes depending on grades achieved.
HKCEE Grade 3 or above in English is acceptable as an English Languag e qualification as it is considered equivalent to GCSE grade C. We also accept HK Use of English AS level with grase C or above. If you cannot show that you have obtained this grade, then you can provide us with an IELTS or TOEFL qualification. Please see standard English language requirements
Postgraduate – Taught
You can apply for a 1 year masters programme with a good undergraduate degree from a recognised Hong Kong university. The specific requirement will vary depending on the course you are applying for at Aston and the university from which you have graduated. You should have at least a Bachelors or honours 2:1 equivalent (60-70%) degree from recognised institution.
If you are applying for finance, engineering, science or social science based subjects; you must have studied a similar field in your undergraduate degree. There are a number of conversion programmes in business and management which are appropriate for students from any subject background.

Postgraduate - MBA
You can apply for the MBA programme with an undergraduate degree, in any subject area, from an overseas institution and a minimum of three years post graduation managerial work experience. You should have at least a Bachelors or honours 2:1 equivalent (60-70%) degree from recognised institution.

Postgraduate - Research
You can apply for a research degree with a good Masters degree from a recognised Hong Kong university. The specific requirement will vary depending on the course you are applying for at Aston and the university which you have graduated from. You should have at least a Masters of 2:1 or equivalent (60-70%) degree from recognised institution.
Each of Aston's Schools of Study has a number of research groups with the potential to host PhD students. Research specialisms include finance, economics, marketing, organisational psychology, bioenergy, knowledge engineering, photonics, languages, biomedical sciences, neurosciences, health sciences and more.
You have to submit a detailed research proposal outlining your intended research topic, its objectives, proposed method of research and an indication of how the proposed research topic relates to previous work by other researchers. Find out more on Aston's Postgraduate research pages.
