Applying to a British university and living abroad can be to a large extent a challenging prospect especially for international students. Over the years, Aston has taken pride in offering a truly international learning experience to its students. Students from over 120 different countries choose to study at Aston, creating a highly diverse campus community.
One of the main purposes of the Scheme is to promote higher education and represent Aston University to potential students and their friends and family, as well as to provide an insight about all aspects of the University and life at Aston. The International Ambassadors engage in a number of activities such as conducting campus tours, assisting at education exhibitions and incoming visits to the university, assisting in web-based activities such as Live chats and Skype campaigns and presenting on student life at Aston and in the UK.
This year we have recruited 22 highly motivated and spirited individuals to assist with the activities carried out by the International Office. The International Ambassadors are students who have already been through the process of adapting to life in a new country and culture and can therefore give prospective students advice on what to expect after leaving their home country. This year we have representatives from a range of countries such as Iran, Indonesia, India, Nigeria, Hong Kong, Bulgaria, Taiwan, China and Canada.
We hope that being part of the International Ambassador Scheme will bring a valuable experience to our students and will contribute to their individual development and we hope that being part of the scheme will be the beginning of a more exciting and enjoyable time with Aston University.
