Aston Business School Undergraduate Scholarships (2013 entry)


Aston Business School Scholarship Award Scheme

The Aston Business School is pleased to announce several scholarships of £1,000 each in value for each academic year of undergraduate studies and £500 for the placement year.
Scholarships are available to international students entering one of the full-time BSc programmes in 2013/4 detailed here. 

How to apply

Applicants holding conditional or unconditional firm offers should write a letter of application and a letter of motivation (500 words) along with providing an academic reference supporting the application.

Aston Business School MSc scholarships for full-time international/UK/EU students (2013 entry)

Aston Business School full fee MSc scholarships:

These are available to candidates with the most excellent academic records in their previous study. A UK 1st class degree or equivalent is the minimum requirement.  Candidates do not apply for these scholarships, as they are awarded by the Aston Business Scholarships Group.

MSc International Business scholarships:

Scholarships of up to 50% and 75% of the full fee are available to candidates with the most excellent academic records in their previous study.  A UK 1st class degree or equivalent is the minimum requirement.  Candidates must submit a scholarship essay, details of which are available from the MSc Admissions Office.

MSc Entrepreneurship & International Business Scholarships:

Scholarships of up to 25% and 50% of the full fee are available to candidates with a UK 1st class (or high 2:1) degree or equivalent and excellent academic achievement in their previous study. Applicants must submit an essay of up to 500 words on the topic: 

What are the most important challenges facing owner-managers of new ventures in your country that wish to export and/or establish some operations abroad? 

MSc Strategy & International Business Scholarships:

Scholarships of up to 25% and 50% of the full fee are available to candidates with a UK 1st class (or high 2:1) degree or equivalent and excellent academic achievement in their previous study. Applicants must submit an essay of up to 500 words on the topic: 

Which are the two greatest uncertainties for the long term strategies of organisations competing in the global marketplace?

Aston Alumni scholarships:

Awards of 20% of the full fee are available for Aston University alumni who apply directly to Aston Business School.

Aston Business School MSc scholarships for part-time international/UK/EU students (2013 entry)


Part-time UK/EU students: 

MSc Human Resource Management & Business; MSc Social Responsibility & Sustainability:

Up to 50% scholarships are available for the most excellent candidates.  Candidates must demonstrate a high level of commitment to the discipline.  Eligibility for scholarships will be judged through a competitive essay.  Please contact the MSc Admissions Office for further details on the scholarship applications process.

NB In order to be eligible to apply for a scholarship, candidates must hold an offer of a place.  With the exception of the Aston Alumni scholarships, candidates may not combine two awards.  Notification of awards will be made at the end of July 2013.

Full-time ABS Scholarship

Up to the value of £1,000.
This scholarship is based on an evaluation of the applicant’s career history, academic ability, merit and potential as an MBA student. The award of this scholarship will be based on the application form, supporting documents and interview. These Scholarships are available for self –funded applicants only.

Full-time Mindful Global Manager Scholarship

Up to the value of £5,500
Applicants for this scholarship need to demonstrate self-awareness and leadership skills. To apply for this scholarship the applicant should prepare a three page power point presentation showing:

  • an example of your leadership qualities
  • a clear understanding of your strengths and weaknesses as a leader
  • how the Aston MBA may be able to help your leadership development

The award of this scholarship will be based on the presentation of the slides at interview. These Scholarships are available for self-funded applicants only.

All applicants with a GMAT score of 680 and above will automatically be considered for this Scholarship.

Full-time ABS Merit Scholarship
Up to the value of £5,500
The Merit Scholarship is awarded based on your need for financial aid to help with the tuition fee of the Aston MBA. To apply for this scholarship prepare a two page Power Point presentation showing:

  • your reason for needing financial support
  • how the Aston MBA may help your leadership development

The award of this scholarship will be based on the presentation of the slides at interview. These Scholarships are available for self-funded applicants only.

Full-time MBA Ferguson Trust Scholarship

Up to the value of £5,000.
Up to ten scholarships are available to applicants exclusively from African countries as listed by the UN through the Ferguson Trust Scholarship. We offer a scholarship of £5,000 for qualifying applicants towards the payment of their tuition fees. These Scholarships are available for self-funded applicants only.

Scholarship requirement:

  • Applicants are required to demonstrate how the award of a Ferguson Scholarship would enable them to study the Aston MBA in the UK, before 12 July 2013.

This scholarship is based on an evaluation of the applicant’s career history, academic ability, merit and potential as an MBA student. The award of this scholarship will be based on the application form and supporting documents. These Scholarships are available for self –funded applicants only.

Full-time students can apply for the ABS Scholarship and either The Mindful Global Manager Scholarship, The ABS Merit Scholarship and the Ferguson Trust Scholarship (if applicable) simultaneously. Each applicant will be awarded only one of the following scholarships along with the ABS Scholarship.

  • The Mindful Global Manager Scholarship,

  • The ABS Merit Scholarship

  • Ferguson Trust Scholarship

Entrepreneurship and Innovation Scholarship

Up to 10 scholarships available up to the value of £5,500.

The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Scholarship is awarded to MBA students who demonstrate either past experience or future interest towards, entrepreneurship, innovation, and/or business enterprise.  This scholarship is ideal for MBA students who either plan to start-up businesses or lead business organisations forward making them more sustainable.

On-line MBA Merit Scholarship
Up to the value of £3,000.
This scholarship is based on an evaluation of the applicant’s career history, academic ability, merit and potential as an MBA student. The award of this scholarship will be based on the application form and supporting documents. These Scholarships are available for self-funded applicants only.

EAS International Undergraduate Scholarship - 2013 Entry:

Many programmes within the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences (SEAS) offer a substantial entrance bursary to all International students. There are 25 scholarships available at the value of £3,000 awarded to those international students proven to excel in their subject area.

EAS Aston Graduate Discount - 2013 Entry: 


SEAS offers a discount of £500 to UK and EU students on their MSc programme fees for a full 12 month programme. International Aston Graduates receive a 10% discount on their international fees.

The School of Engineering & Applied Sciences is offering 12 International Scholarships of £5,000 each to self-funded international students entering full-time MSc programmes in September 2013.

LSS Postgraduate Scholarship for African & South American Students (2013 Entry)                                                           

The School of Languages and Social Sciences is offering three scholarships to students from Africa and South America. Scholarships are supported by the Ferguson Foundation which is dedicated to improving educational opportunities for students who would not otherwise be able to consider studying in the UK.

The scholarships are available to students applying to on campus programmes offered in the School of Languages and Social Sciences.  

If successful, you will receive a scholarship of approximately £6,000 towards the cost of your MA course fees. You will have to contribute £6,000 (approx) towards your MA tuition fees.

The School of Languages and Social Sciences offers 3 x £2000 bursaries towards the cost of the MA tuition fees for students with native speaker competence in English.

The School of Languages and Social Sciences offers 10 x £1000 scholarships towards tuition fees in the 2013/14 academc year, for all MSc/MA applications: full-time, part-time, on campus and distance learning students.

LHS Postgraduate Scholarship for African & South American Students (2013 Entry)

The School of Life & Health Sciences is offering 10 scholarships to students from Africa and South America. Scholarships are supported by the Ferguson Foundation which is dedicated to improving educational opportunities for students who would not otherwise be able to consider study in the UK.

The scholarships are available to students applying to on campus programmes offered in the School of Life and Health Sciences.  

If successful, you will receive a scholarship of approximately £12,000 towards the cost of your MSc course fees. You will have to contribute £3,000 (approx) towards your MSc tuition fees.

LHS PhD Opportunities for International Students (2013 Entry)
LHS have 6 PhD scholarships worth £7,000 per year avaliable in Research Groups allied to Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Pharmacy, Optometry and Psychology. Scholarships will take the form of a reduction in tuition fees.

In May 2012, Aston University signed an agreement with Banco Santander to support a number of projects, including international mobility of students.The International Office is pleased to announce three £5,000 scholarships are available for successful applicants entering any postgraduate full-time taught Masters programmes at Aston University.

The Su Youn Yoo Scholarship 2013:

Aston Business School alumna (MSc Marketing Management 2001) Su Youn Yoo has established a scholarship in her name to support students from South Korea studying at Aston University. There is one scholarship available worth £5,000.00.  The scholarship will take the form of a reduction in tuition fees.
