English Language Requirements

To ensure that you will be successful in your studies at Aston, we look for strong evidence that you have a good level of written and spoken English before you are accepted onto any of Aston's programmes. This is to ensure that you are able to cope with the demands of our programmes.

To be accepted onto our programmes, you must be able to satisfy the University's English language requirements. The level required will depend on the programme you are applying for.

Aston University

• runs a selection of pre-sessional English language programmes for students

• is an IELTS test centre so you can register for IELTS classes and tests

Min 5.5 overall, with a min of 5.0 in each section

Min 71 overall, with a min of 17 in Listening, Raading and Writing, with a min of 19 in Speaking.

Undergraduate Bachelors degrees:

Min 6.5 overall, with a min of 6.0 in each section

Min 90 overall, with a min of 21 in Listening, 23 in Speaking, 22 in Reading and 21 in Writing.

• BSc (Hons) Transport Management

• BSc (Hons) Computing for Business

Min 6.5 overall, with a min of 6.0 in Writing and Speaking and 5.5 in Listening and Reading.
