Restoring deleted files

If you are a member of School/Academic staff, you can restore any files from the last seven days from any lab machine, by following these steps:

1. Press Start, then select Run.

2. In the Run window, enter H:\.ckpt in the Open text box. (Note the dot . between the backslash and ckpt text). Press OK.

3. In the Explorer Window that opens, you should see seven folders, organised in the format YEAR_MONTH_DAY_TIME - for example 2008_09_22_23.41.02_GMT. These represent copies of your H: drive on each respective night. Double-click the folder that holds the copy of the data you wish to restore.

4. Once you have found the file you wish to restore, you must copy it to your H: drive. Data within the .ckpt folder is a read-only copy, and will expire after seven days.
