Hibernacula Maintenance

One sunny lunchtime last week, some of the dedicated members of our Aston Campus Wildlife Group set to work fixing up our two hibernacula on campus.
For those of you who don't know, a hibernaculum (meaning "tent for winter quarters") is a shelter for hibernating animals. Here at Aston, we have two hibernacula for amphibians, right next to the lake. The wildlife group worked to create a number of new entrance holes to the hibernacula, ensuring that anything wanting to take cover....

Green League Submission

The end of March saw a final push to gather evidence and write up the University's annual People & Planet Green league submission. Previous years Aston has been highly successful in this measure of environmental actions and policies, 11 out of 140 universities. Hopefully this year we'll be even higher and push for a top 10 place.
