After doing a degree in
aeronautics I decided I wanted to further compliment my education with a degree
in computer science. After coming to visit the University and talking to some
of the staff, Aston felt like the right choice. The staff were all extremely
enthusiastic about what they did and very approachable. As a mature student I
felt Aston was well situated within Birmingham, whether I chose to live on or
off campus, this gave me the option to commute easily on a daily basis.
My third of four years was an
industrial placement at IBM, working as a software developer on one of the
world’s most successful transactional servers, used by over 90 percent of the
fortune 500 companies. This has not only enhanced my understanding of the
subject but also greatly enhanced my CV. I now work for the University as a
software developer on one of their research projects.
