Katie studied for her BEng in Chemical Engineering at Aston
University and graduated in 2002. Her final year project was on the
fast pyrolysis of biomass. After graduating, Katie worked as Process
Development Engineer at Smurfit Kappa SSK, who manufacture recycled
paper.
Katie joined BERG in June 2007 as a Research Assistant. She will
primarily be working on the BIOSYNERGY project (more information on the
BIOSYNERGY project is available on the Projects page). This project is
sponsored by the European Commission and aims to make bio-based
products more cost competitive by developing innovative biorefinery
concepts. The focus of Katie's work will be biorefinery process chain
synthesis, analysis and optimisation. Katie will also be commencing a
PhD based on her work for this project.
