Profile
I received the BEng and MSc degrees in Electrical Engineering from Southwest Jiaotong University, China, in 1982 and 1985, respectively. I did research on coding for digital communication systems at the University of Manchester, and was awarded the PhD degree in 1995.
From 1985 to 1990, I was Lecturer and Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Southwest Jiaotong University. I worked as Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Manchester during 1995-1997, and as Research Fellow at the University of York, during 1997-1998. I joined South Bank University, London, working in the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering as Lecturer and Senior Lecturer between 1998 and 2001. In 2001 I was with Roke Manor Research, Romsey, working as Consultant Engineer before joining Aston University, Birmingham, in 2002, where he is currently Senior Lecturer with the Electrical, Electronic and Power Engineering Subject Group in the School of Engineering & Applied Science. My research interests include error control coding, wireless communications & networking, and distributed networks.
