International Collaborations

The Engineering and Applied Science School takes great pride in its international reputable research profiles and collaborative links. Via individual and research group connections, we have collaborative activities with more than twenty countries worldwide, including the USA, India, China, Russia, Japan, Australia, Canada, Ukraine, Singapore, Germany, France, Denmark, Italy, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands and Cyprus.

The academics and researchers within the School actively collaborate with colleagues in research institutes and industrial companies around the world, sharing common research knowledge and interests, working on joint research projects, publishing collaborative works, organising meetings and conferences and giving seminar talks.

Specific Recent Projects

  • Recently, the Bioenergy Research Group has won a prestige grant from the RCUK Science Bridges Awards (RCUK-DST India Science Bridge) to develop bioenergy technology and business solutions for the UK and India 'How to provide modern energy services with low greenhouse gas emissions?' and 'How to make energy services available to poor people?'
  • UKIERI collaboration grant on Development of a low-cost VAD: collaboration with Walchand College of Engineering and Wanless Hospital, Maharashtra, India to develop mechanical cardiac assist devices (a total artificial heart and a ventricular assist device).
  • EOARD (The US Air Force) grant on 45o-TFBG based high function polarisers for in-fibre optical isolator and coherent beam combining for high power operation.
