To implement in India a hybrid solar-biomass energy plant using a steam turbine.
What is planned?
To create a hybrid solar-thermal plant with a biomass based boiler in Delhi. This is similar to the system in work package 3 with solar concentrators to supplement the biomass input.
In order to reduce the cost of the concentrators (which are conventionally made of glass mirrors), other reflective films from automotive applications will be investigated. These can be bonded to rigid materials that are also less fragile than glass.
The system is smaller than in work package 3, giving only 20 to 30 kVA, therefore will require innovations in turbine design to retain efficiency.
