Pilot plant laboratory, including a 20kg/h ablative pyrolyser. Computing facilities for simulation and parameter optimisation.

BERG has a number of experimental and analysis labs containing a range of equipment and rigs which are used by our researchers.

Fluid bed reactors

Four continuously fed fluid bed fast pyrolysis reactors are available:  100g/h, 300g/h, 1kg/h and 5kg/h. In addition a cold model of a fluid bed reactor is also available for modelling.

Ablative reactors

Two ablative plate fast pyrolysis reactors are available: 3kg/h & 20kg/h.  The second concept has been patented.

TGA (Thermo Gravimetric Analysis)

A state of the art TGA instrument is available.
