The Group's research is carried out in purpose-built
laboratories with access to extensive simulation facilities
including specially designed software for modelling and
analyzing the behaviour of concurrent systems. Prototype designs
can be developed using modern EDA (digital electronics CAD)
facilities that accommodate both conventional and HDL based
approaches. Designs can be synthesized and implemented using
state-of-the-art FPGA's including SoC (System on Chip) devices
or general purpose microprocessors, microcontrollers or DSP
devices.
We also have facilities for work on mobile networks,
including wireless ad-hoc sensor nodes.
Our software design tools can also be used for the design of novel
protocol stacks which can then be bound in hardware such as the
Virtex II FPGA.
