Progression paths

In the summer term the Course Director invites students on the Foundation Year to declare which degree course they wish to progress onto.  The precise progression requirements are revised each year to be in line with the offers described in the University’s undergraduate prospectus for normal UCAS applicants to degree courses.  However, the range of courses within the School of Engineering and Applied Science, to which you might progress once the Foundation Year has been completed successfully, is so wide that candidates are best advised to consult the Admissions Tutor for specific details.

Accredited degree courses in engineering may have additional entry requirements imposed by the accrediting body.  Students should check with the appropriate Course Director to determine if there are any such conditions attached to their course.

Sometimes students ask about the possibility of progressing to degree courses outside the School of Engineering and Applied Science.  Occasionally such progression may be possible, but only if this has been agreed at the point of application to the course, and it must be noted that particularly high marks may be required in specific modules.

Progression to the main degree courses listed below is automatic for students who have passed the Foundation Year without blemish and who have studied the appropriate electives (you do not have to re-apply through UCAS):
