Research

Sustainable Environment Research Group

The group centres on interdisciplinary teams that focus on the three themes of energy, transport and logistics, and the built and natural environment. Our expertise embraces: systems management and planning; computer modelling, simulation and optimisation; spatial data analysis; evaluation of industrial processes, procedures and materials; and environmental decision support.

Within the Groups there are exciting opportunities for postgraduate students to undertake research leading to a PhD or MPhil. For further information on entry requirements, application forms etc., please contact the School’s Research Office.

Consultancy

Most of our staff will undertake consultancy in their specialist fields. The Aston Business Partnership Unit will be happy to provide advice, arrange meetings with relevant staff and discuss opportunities for collaboration. There are two specialist units associated with the Environmental Systems and Management:

Aston Microscopy and Engineering supplies a comprehensive materials analysis service, with a prime focus on metallurgical investigations.
Aston Services is a company of consulting material engineers offering research, development and testing services to the construction and civil engineering industries.
