Diverse Laboratory Experience: Our courses involve laboratory
work in a wide range of chemical, biological and/or chemical
engineering subject areas. They offer training in specific techniques
and illustrate fundamental concepts discussed in lectures.
Emphasis on Project Work: During your studies you will be
involved in individual and group project work. These are designed to
develop individual skills as a researcher as well as communication,
negotiation, organisational and leadership skills needed to work
effectively in research- or project- groups after graduation.
Professional Practice: Our courses emphasise the commercial as
well as industrial application of Chemistry. During your course you
will take a number of modules designed to link the theory you study in
other modules with the 'real world' that will continually influence
your future work, whether you do biomedical research, help define
public environmental policy or design new chemical process facilities.
Undergraduate
Full accreditation is given by the Institution of
Chemical Engineers (IChemE) to the academic content of all our Chemical
Engineering degree courses. The appropriate period spent in a
responsible position after graduation can therefore count towards
corporate membership of the Institution (the placment year counts
towards this).
Uniquely our MEng in Chemical Engineering and Applied
Chemistry is accredited by the Institution of Chemical Engineers
(IChemE) and recognised by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). This
means that following time spent in post after graduation you will be
eligible for Corporate Membership of both Institutions and the status
of Chartered Engineer and Chartered Chemist.
Reflecting our established reputation, our courses are recognised by the Royal Society of Chemistry.
