If you are a home UK student who currently resides in England and you intend to begin a Higher Education course at Aston University for the 2011 / 2012 academic year the information here may apply to you. If you are a continuing student and commenced your course from 1 September 2006 this information may also be of use.

Financial support available for 2011 / 2012 entry (Full-time applicants):
Student Loan for Tuition Fees
The tuition fee for the 2011 / 2012 academic year will be £3,375 for full-time undergraduate degrees and you may apply to Student Finance Direct for a Tuition Fee Loan to cover the cost up to £3,375 If you are on your placement year in 2011 / 2012 the tuition fee will be £1,680
Maintenance Loan for living costs
The amount of loan you receive depends on your household income. The rates below illustrate the maximum loans available in the 2011 / 2012 academic year:
Living at your parents home during term time £3,838
Living elsewhere during term time £4,950
Maintenance Grant for living costs
The amount of grant (you do not have to pay this back) you receive depends on your household income but the maximum levels of Maintenance Grant can be found below:
Household income being £25,000 or less £2,906 grant
Household income being £25,001 to £50,020 partial grant
Household income being over £50,020 no grant eligibility
Special Support Grant
If you are eligible for income-related benefits whilst a full-time student you may receive this grant (you do not have to pay this back) instead of the Maintenance Grant which is awarded to cover course related cost, travel or childcare. Income-related benefits could be income support or housing benefit.
The maximum Special Support Grant awarded is £2,906 and like the Maintenance Grant the amount you will receive is dependant on your household income.
Student Finance England - Application Deadlines
New full-time students may apply for statutory student support from Wednesday 16 March 2011 with a deadline for submitting applications on Tuesday 31 May 2011.
Continuing students may apply from Monday 14 February 2011 with a deadline for submission on Thursday 30 June 2011.
Please note, you may apply after the published deadlines however it will not be guaranteed that your support will be in place before the start of Term 1 2011/2012.
Aston University Bursary
The maximum Aston University Bursary awarded is £500 this is dependant on your household income and that you receive a Maintenance Grant and pay the full tuition fee. If your household income is £25,000 or less you will receive an Aston University Bursary up to £500.
Aston University Placement Allowance
If you are on a placement year you are not entitled to the Aston University Bursary. However, if you pay Tuition Fees at the reduced placement year rate of £1,680 for the 2011 /2012 academic year you will be eligible for the £1000 Placement Allowance. You may use this bursary for your living costs or to part-fund your tuition fees.
Aston University Placement Bursary
If you undertake a placement outside the UK for the full year and you pay the reduced placement year tuition fee rate of £1,680 you will be eligible to receive an additional bursary of £500 (this is in addition to the £1000 Aston University Placement Allowance).
You may also be eligible for the Placement Bursary if you are undertaking a UK unpaid placement.
