Since it is ‘go green’ week the outreach team have decided to work together to inspire Aston students to get into the go green spirit!

A local canal clean-up project will give you the chance to volunteer for Canal and River Trust to help protect your environment.

Canal and River Trust is responsible for taking care of waterways in England and Wales.

 How you can help:

  • Volunteers are required to help clean Ashted Branch canal to help keep the navigation clear and to protect the local wildlife.

  • Activities will include weeding and conservation of footpath and removal of materials that are dumped in canals - all tools provided!

  • Volunteers are required to be committed to the project and handle tools safely.

  •  Volunteers are required to have a short health and safety briefing before commencing the volunteering.

 Time: 1pm

 Location: Ashted Canal

Volunteers will meet in Aston University Lower foyer at 12:45pm and will be taken to the canal as a group. Students will also be brought back to the university once the activity has been completed.

Please note there is a possibility of this activity being cancelled on short notice due to  weather conditions.
