Peer Mentoring Celebration Evening

Towards the end of every academic year we hold a Celebration Evening to thank and reward the dedication of all our Peer Mentors and Peer Mentees. All participants receive a certificate for their commitment,  plus we hear from staff and students involved in the scheme and celebrate with a party afterwards.

On Thursday 5th May 2011, Aston students who support their peers in a variety of ways were treated to an evening of celebration dedicated to them and their achievements.

Peer Mentors received certificates and awards for their involvement in the programmes, and were congratulated by Senior Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Helen Higson who is a great supporter of the schemes.

Mentor of the Year 2011

Awards were given to the following mentors, who had offered outstanding support to the students they mentored:

Jounita Wright, LHS - Pre-Entry E-Mentor of the Year

Ravinder Kaur Judge, IDS – Transition Mentor of the Year

Samantha Peat, ABS - Placement Mentor of the Year

Ravinder’s mentee said...

“I struggled with the transition into University. However, when I had my first peer mentoring session with Ravinder she straight away calmed any nerves that I had. She reassured me that it would take time but everything would fall into place and she was right. If Ravinder hadn't listened to my problems, I am not sure I would have made it this far through my first year at University.”
