Job roles

Student Ambassadors have the opportunity to assist in a number of activities, including:

Working with young people of various age groups (mainly 14-19), so previous experience of working with this age group and working to raise young people’s aspirations may be an advantage.   

  • Careers Conventions
  • Student Life Talks
  • Campus Tours and Open Days
  • School Visits on Campus
  • School Visits off Campus
  • Administrative work
  • Other jobs may also be available as required by the Schools Liaison Office, such as photoshoots or event help. 

How much do I get paid?

Student ambassadors receive £7.45 per hour for all standard jobs. 

How many hours do I have to work?

Work opportunities are available throughout the year. The number of hours that you work and the type of work that you do is flexible. Emails will be sent to you weekly, detailing all of the jobs available in the next month, so you can plan your time effectively. If you see a job that is vacant and you would like to work, you just need to e-mail Gill Clark. If the job is still available you will receive a confirmation email by return. All we ask is that you complete at least one School Visit event and one Campus Tour per term (approximately 6 hours of work).

Below is a list of the jobs that were available in the week commencing Monday 5th March 2012. This should give you an idea of the scope and range of different work available as a student ambassador. All work takes place on campus, unless otherwise stated.

Monday 5th March

9:30 – 16:30    3 x Students required for Envelope Stuffing

Tuesday 6th March

07:45 – 10:30    2 x Students required to give a Student Life talk (off campus, transport provided)

9:30 – 16:30    2 x Students required for Envelope Stuffing

10:15 – 14:30  4 x Students required for a School Visit

15:00 – 17:00  2 x Students required to put up posters for an event

Wednesday 7th March

08:45 – 12:30    2 x Students required to help at an event

09:30 – 14:00    4 x Students required to help at a Careers Fair (off campus, transport provided)

11:45 – 14:00  1 x Student required to help guide visitors in Reception

12:00 – 13:15  12 x Students required to give a campus tour

12:30 – 16:30  2 x Students required to help with masterclasses.

15:30 – 16:45  5 x Students required to give a campus tour

Thursday 8th March

09:30 – 14:30    10 x Students required to help with a school visit

12:00 – 13:15   8 x Students required to help with campus tours

15:00 – 16:15  4 x Students required to help with campus tours

Friday 9th March

7:45 – 10:30    2 x Students required to give a Student Life talk (off campus, transport provided)
