All students considering withdrawing from their programme should discuss the matter with their personal tutor or school equivalent in the first instance. If you decide to withdraw from the University, you must follow the proper withdrawals procedure within your School and also put your request in writing to the School/Programme Co-ordinator. You should always send a copy of your letter of intent to withdraw to the Registry
This section covers any fees which you may have to pay should you withdraw after the cut off date if you are a Home or EU Undergraduate and any refunds available for Overseas and Postgraduate students
If you decide to withdraw from the University, you must inform the University in writing, addressing your letter to your School and send a copy to the Registry. You should be aware that your date of withdrawal will be considered to be the date on which the University receives your withdrawal letter.
The following table sets out the basis on which tuition fees are payable in the event of you withdrawing from the University and the deadlines that will be strictly applied:

Letter of withdrawal received between1 November 2011 and 13 January 2012 inclusive.

You will be required to pay one third of your assessed contribution to annual tuition fees.
If you have paid more than this amount, you will receive a refund for the excess.
If you withdraw on or after (TBC) and have agreed to take an SLC loan for the total tuition fee due, you will receive a refund for the difference between the amount that the SLC will pay and the proportion of the tuition fee due.

Letter of withdrawal is received between 14 January and 20 April 2012 inclusive.

You will be required to pay two thirds of your assessed contribution to annual tuition fees.
If you have paid more than this amount, you will receive a refund for the excess.
If you have agreed to take an SLC loan for the total tuition fee due, you will receive a refund for the difference between the amount that the SLC will pay and the proportion of the tuition fee due.

You will be required to pay the full assessed contribution to annual tuition fees. Accordingly no refund will be payable.

You will receive the full Aston Bursary, Subject Specific Award, or Placement Allowance/Bursary

As Aston Bursaries, Subject Specific Awards, or Placement Allowances/Bursaries are paid to you after fees are due, it is important that you make arrangements for your tuition and residence fees to be paid. Failure to make such arrangements for the payment of fees may result in the payment of your bursary, scholarship and/or allowance being withheld.
If for any reason there is an overpayment of any Aston Bursary, Subject Specific Award or Placement Allowance/Bursary you will be required to repay this within one month of your withdrawal from the University. Failure to do so may result in legal action to recover the overpayment
Should you decide to withdraw from your programme; the University will consider a refund on a pro-rata basis. If you decide to withdraw from University, you must inform the University in writing by sending a letter to your School/Programme Co-ordinator, copying your letter to Registry. You should be aware that your date of withdrawal will be considered to be the date on which the University receives your withdrawal letter.
