I joined the university in May 2010 to become part of the CLIPP team who assist them with enhancing teaching and learning across the campus. My role predominantly focusses on the support of all staff across campus to understand and fully exploit the potential of centrally supported learning technologies. These cover a wide range of “tools” available to all staff, but focussing mainly on our virtual learning environment: Blackboard, our text matching tool: Turnitin, and our e-portfolio learning platform: Pebblepad. Along with these, I am also responsible for encouraging the uptake of our virtual classroom tool: Elluminate.
I run staff development sessions, covering all of the above tools, and I am designated administrator for all, except Blackboard. I work across campus with School champions, and learning technologists to help promote and embed learning technologies. My rationale is centered on the close understanding and support of all staff to be able to exploit both the technology and pedagogy in a forward thinking university. Being part of a central support team, with their wealth of experience, helps to reinforce my close support and encouragement of TEL across the campus.
