We were asked to come up
with a quick and simple video for the launch of the Aston Excellencescholarships initiative, which would sum up the messages and feature Aston
students as its stars, while being visually interesting.
Once we decided on the idea
of getting students to hold signs featuring the pertinent information, then the
whole project came together very swiftly. We wrote a script to purposely run at
about 45 secs, then storyboarded it and submitted it for approval. We used head
shots of students from the Aston Portraits project; the voiceover was recorded
by MLT’s Producer, Nick Birch; the students were sourced from the marketing
department placement students, we took photos for the video in our CLIPP
Studios; and the whole video was assembled and rendered by MLT Graphic Designer
Steve McHale. It was turned around in approximately 5 days and was uploaded to
the university YouTube Channel and embedded on the relevant webpage.
