Brief
To celebrate the reopening of Aston’s sports facility – the Doug Ellis Woodcock Sports Centre – following a refurbishment programme funded by a gift from local businessman Doug Ellis, we asked to make a video about the former Aston Villa FC Chairman and Honorary Aston Graduand. The brief we were given was to get vox-pop opinions from the general public, which we did in a very interesting filming session outside the Aston Villa shop on New Street in Birmingham! However, we also managed to get interviews with two celebrated celebrities who have known Doug – Gary Newbon and Dwight Yorke – to add to the mix. The video was to be shown to Doug and a select gathering of friends, colleagues and notables at a gala event on the 3rd October 2011.
Products
Products: We filmed an interview with Gary Newbon in Brindley Place, and with Dwight Yorke at the Belfry Golf Club, plus we gathered about a dozen short interviews with members of the public. We also used a couple of still photos kindly donated by the media archive at Aston Villa Football Club in the final edit.
