Brief
We were asked to produce
a DVD of the installation of a ground source heating system at Kings Mill Hospital in Mansfield
by Geothermal International. By filming various stages of the design, build and
installation, the DVD will be used to showcase work undertaken by Geothermal
and explain how the hospital system works. Video and graphics were used to
explain the process with the addition of a scripted voice over and text inserts
on screen.
Geothermal International
is the UK’s
leading specialist in ground source heating and cooling systems for commercial
and residential buildings. The Kings Mill hospital project used a closed loop
system using the nearby Kings Mill reservoir providing the optimum balance of
maximum energy and with minimum environmental impact.
Media
We filmed various stages
of the build over a year long process, from the creation of slim jims (heat exchangers) to the
operation of drilling under the busy A38 road to install pipe work from the
reservoir to the hospital. The submersion of the heat exchangers was filmed and
the final completion of the plant area was all recorded to document the build
and installation of this flagship development. The Geothermal International scheme for Kings Mill Hospital is the largest of its kind outside North America.
