Portable Wi-Fi enabled device to enhance feedback of students in the optometry public clinics
This project is based around enhancing student feedback. One of the key elements on which the University is assessed each year by students is their perception of the feedback they have received during teaching. Unfortunately this is often the area that students may feel least satisfied with. In the Optometry public clinics this feedback process is complicated by further external issues where the learning experience of the student competes with the time and communication demands of the patient’s clinical care. The aim is to create a paperless method of achieving immediate, individualised feedback to the students and to do this we explored the use of portable Wifi Enabled Devices to Enhance Feedback. This took the form of the Apple iPod Touch allowing each supervisor to record feedback during the examination in a non intrusive and portable way.
