Background

Dr Victoria Uren has worked at Aston University since September 2011.  Before joining Aston she worked as a senior researcher on several collaborative projects and as an Information Scientist.  Her research concerns the ways in which the use of structured metadata, including semantic web approaches, can support the provision of rich contextualized knowledge services.  The work encompasses semantic search and semantic annotation, in particular the design and evaluation of retrieval systems.  This work has been applied in a wide range of contexts including engineering and scientific knowledge.
