After gaining his PhD from Aston in 2005, John has progressed to Senior Lecturer and now, to Head of the Marketing Group. With impressive commercial and academic credentials, John is committed to communicating the value of marketing and effective marketing practice to academic and business audiences alike.

John is passionate about the importance of teaching quality and the student experience, and has received several teaching awards to attest to this. John's research interests are varied, but current projects cluster around issues of strategic marketing, strategic planning, sales relationships and social media. His work has been published in the Journal of Business Research, the Journal of Strategic Marketing and the Journal of Marketing Management. John’s presentation at the British Science Festival this year entitled “Marketing is all about T-shirts and posters … right?” was very well received.

Prior to pursuing an academic career, John held a number of senior management roles in retail, wholesale and construction sectors.
