Thesis title:
Price Transmission Asymmetries in EU Fuel Markets.
Research keywords:
Prices, Asymmetries, Time Series, Gasoline, Diesel, Oligopolistic Coordination, Search costs theory, Edgeworth Price Cycles.
Research Description:
The main objective of the research is to investigate the determinants of asymmetric pricing in the main EU fuel markets: France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK. I use an exceptionally rich weekly dataset as well as market structure data for the six European countries in the classical Error-Correction Model. I then focus on the UK with national daily data and a daily panel dataset for Birmingham petrol stations using a Markov regime-switching model.
