Internationalisation, Innovation and Learning from Foreign Presence: Evidence from China

Research keywords:

internationalisation, innovation, FDI spillovers

Research Description:

My research is about firms’ internationlisation strategies and how Chinese firms can learn from MNEs. International business research generally treat export and FDI as alternative strategies to serve overseas market. However, there is some evidence showing that some firms may skip some stages of internationalisation and do outward FDI at the very beginning. In addition, some firms in the same industries do export or FDI only, while the others do export as well as FDI. As Chinese firms accelerating their international involvement, it is important to study their global strategies. Moreover, FDI spillovers studies have reported mixed findings. I plan to use a new innovation dataset to study how Chinese firms can benefit spillovers from MNEs.
