Research activity at ABS takes place within Academic Groups and Research Centres. Here you will find information on all of these, and on the way in which they interact to help produce leading-edge research.

Academic Groups
Our teaching is informed by our research and ABS has five Academic Groups which provide the homes for academics and research students with similar research interests and a common interest in a particular subject area. The Groups enable and encourage the development of joint activities and shared expertise through informal and formal meetings, as well as awaydays to discuss future directions and development.

Research Centres
The Research Programmes also host cross-functional Research Centres, which are created by our academics in response to emerging research topics. Proposals to start up a Research Centre have to go through a formal procedure and there is a system of formal review every three years.
