Central to our mission is the determination to deliver impact; we are committed to generating research that makes a sustainable difference to people, organisations and economies.

Our researchers work with businesses to develop tools and interventions that deliver tangible commercial benefits and make a lasting contribution to their success. Aston is the second largest provider of Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) in the West Midlands, and twelth largest in the UK.

Aston has been recognised for leading some of the country’s most exciting schemes to help businesses develop, through schemes such as the Innovation Vouchers and Engaging Research for Business Transformation (EREBUS).

Examples of our research in practice

• Aston delivers cutting edge entrepreneurial research and is home to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor UK project which is principally used by the UK government’s Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. 

• Our commitment to helping small businesses is delivered through the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses programme in the West Midlands.   

• Exploiting Servitization in West Midlands SMEs: Aston Business School has been awarded West Midland’s European Regional Development Fund monies which, along with part funding from the Business School itself, mean that we are able to provide support to SME manufacturing companies in the West Midlands.

• The way in which organisations manage projects has a resounding impact not only on their performance but also on the lives of customers and clients. The TRANSFORMATION Project has built on knowledge from the public, third and private sectors to create new management toolsets.
