The Finance and Accounting Group is research focused, having made significant contributions to research in empirical finance, performance measurement and management, corporate governance. We aim to combine our excellence in research with that of an outstanding learning experience for our students. The Group has a strong international focus and many members are visiting professors with international institutions.
Our research aims to influence policy and practice in the financial, government and corporate sectors. Members of the group have acted as advisors, organisations have included: the Bank of England and H.M. Treasury.
Research areas currently undertaken include: market microstructure, experimental finance, the efficiency of capital markets, corporate governance, performance measurement and management, auditing, environmental accounting.
The research findings of the group have been cited in the national press, and published in a range of leading peer reviewed journals that include: Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, Journal of Financial Research, International Journal of Forecasting, European Financial Management, Critical Perspectives on Accounting, Journal of International Auditing.
