Higher Education Learning & Management (HELM)

The central mission of the Higher Education Learning & Management (HELM) Centre is to advance the understanding, impact and practice of the pedagogy of business and management in Higher Education, via a programme of rigorous, reflective practice and research. A range of detailed objectives has been identified, of which the following are two: 

• To act as a mechanism to link with and develop Aston’s Centre for Learning Innovation & Professional Practice (CLIPP).
  
• To act as a mechanism to link with the Higher Education Subject Centre in Business, Management, Accounting and Finance (BMAF) and the Association of Business Schools.
  

Research activities of the Centre focus on the following key themes:

• Intercultural awareness
• Employability competencies
• Use of IT in Learning and Teaching
• Quality of Higher Education
• Widening Participation

Research findings are disseminated through:

• Seminars
• Conference presentations
• Publications
• Good Practice Guides
