Programme: Business and Management
Year of study: 1
The module content is excellent and choosing my second year modules was straight-forward due to the practical nature of the modules available. I have also found the support staff to be helpful on the rare occasions I have required help.
Aston’s campus was quite a surprise when I first experienced it because of the green setting in an urban city! I found it was easy to find my way around when I started studying due to the compact campus. Studying and living in Birmingham is great because, although I live off campus everything is a short distance away in regards to accommodation, study, shops and travel links. I feel safe in Birmingham and especially so on campus.
I have made good friends in my degree programme and the various societies I have joined through the students’ guild. Students are very friendly and I did not struggle fitting in or finding friends. I have joined Aston’s SIS Society, who have staged various events during my first year which have been enjoyable and the presentations and workshops have been very good. Through this I have had the opportunity to meet representatives from commercial organisations to discuss career opportunities and advise on progressing in my chosen career. I also joined the Aston Investment Society which has also been very enjoyable because I have been able to develop my interest in investment banking.
The careers department have been helpful with advice on constructing a CV and they have also given me advice on my career plans after university. I have been interested in investment banking prior to joining Aston Business School and my time here has confirmed this as my chosen career path.
