One of the best things about studying in Aston Business School is the common first year. I knew I wanted to study Economics but it gave me the chance to explore other subjects. What we are learning will be relevant in the future and learning about different subjects during the common first year programme provides a great knowledge base . The first year helps you to know that you’re studying the right subject and gives the opportunity to change if you prefer an alternative area of business. This is an opportunity that some of my friends have not had and the flexibility is a major attraction of the Business School.
Aston is a campus university with everyone on the same site so it is really easy to see your friends and you don’t have to get up early to make it to lectures! The campus is really nice as there are no strangers around and you can go and sit by the lake and enjoy the scenery.
Birmingham city centre is really close, which gives you the chance to go shopping whenever you want. There is lots of variety in terms of shops, music, clubs etc and it’s not too expensive as there are lots of promotions for students all around Birmingham. Transport links are also excellent and allow you to get around easily.
I haven’t decided what I want to do in the future as yet but I am looking at something with an international perspective. Even though I’m in the first year we’re already talking about placements and getting ideas about the roles which would suit us.
The highlight of my time here has been meeting new friends who I know I’ll keep in touch with for the rest of my life.
