The majority of Aston Business School’s faculty is recognised as conducting research that is ranked as internationally excellent or world-class. Any Executive DBA applicant is guaranteed to have a supervisor who has an excellent research track record directly related to the DBA topic. This is a rare facility that can only be undertaken by an institution with the research breadth of Aston. The Aston Executive DBA Programme will only take on an applicant if they can be supervised by a member of faculty who is a ‘world-class’ researcher in their chosen field.
Aston Business School also operates a supervisory team approach meaning that when an area of DBA crosses traditional boundaries, further supervisors from different backgrounds can be involved.
These people are amongst many who have all supervised DBAs.
Aston is one of an elite 1% of worldwide business schools to hold accreditation from the three major management international accrediting bodies.
The Association of MBAs (AMBA) fully accredits Aston's Executive DBA programme. "Accreditation by the Association of MBAs identifies programmes as the best there is."
Aston was the first full range business school in the UK to receive EQUIS accreditation, awarded by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). The EQUIS scheme aims "to raise the standard of management education worldwide" by means of "standard setting, benchmarking, mutual learning and the dissemination across borders of good practise".
In April 2003 Aston joined other leading business schools in the world when it was awarded accreditation from the North American based Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The AACSB comments that business schools granted their seal of approval represent "the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide".
