On Saturday 29
November 2008, a number of Aston University alumni, including MBA and
MSc graduates from Aston Business School, attended the Friends of
British Council Hong Kong Inaugural Gala Dinner. The event marked the
culmination of the British Council Hong Kong’s 60th anniversary
celebrations and also launched the Friends of British Council Hong
Kong, a new locally registered charity to support education and
cultural exchange between Hong Kong and the UK.
The dinner took place at Hong Kong Football Club and was attended by
many of Hong Kong’s influential people of the past and present. Many UK
universities hosted a table at the event, and invited alumni as their
guests.
Julie Waddell, Aston Business School’s Corporate Relations Manager,
hosted Aston’s table and reported that this was a really special and
enjoyable event. She commented that our alumni guests considered it a
good networking opportunity and indicated that they were keen to remain
involved with Aston. A number of the alumni have been in touch to say
how much they enjoyed the event. One has commented: “It was a great
evening and a very good opportunity for us to meet up with fellow
alumni from Aston.”
