You can submit your module choices by downloading, completing and returning the Initial Module Registration Form
For students arriving in September: 31 July 2013
For students arriving in January: 31 October 2013
If coming for one teaching period: 30 ECTS credits
If coming for the full year: 60 ECTS credits
If you wish to take less than this, your coordinator will need to provide written permission to Ms Hazel Awty (h.awty@aston.ac.uk) allowing you to do so.
Please also choose up to 20 credits of alternative modules on your initial module registration form, in case your modules are affected by timetable restrictions.
Aston modules are numbered according to the level of the module. The first number in the Module Code indicates the level (typical year of study). As examples, BF1114 is studied by first year Undergraduates, BN2201 by second year students and BS3355 by students in their final year.
When you make your choice of modules, it is important to remember that many of them are built on previous study/knowledge. You need to check the pre-requisite information as you make your selection. It is the responsibility of the student and the home institution to ensure that students have the correct level of prior study/knowledge for each module. You may not study a module and its pre-requisite in the same Teaching Period, or in the wrong order.
Please click here for pre-requisites for second year modules and here for final year modules.
We will try and make it possible for you to study your choice of modules, but as exchange students are given such a wide variety of modules to choose from, some timetable restrictions are inevitable. In addition, modules may not run if fewer than 10 students enrol for them overall. Occasionally, changes may be made to Aston Business School modules after the deadline for exchange students.
Should any of these limitations impact on your module choices, the Student Support Co-ordinator will contact you via email after the module deadline, and will also be available for Subject Advice sessions held in the welcome week/s before teaching begins. In the event that changes or restrictions affect a module you have marked as compulsory, we will work with your home institution to source alternative modules prior to your arrival.
All Aston Business School Undergraduate students are permitted to change their optional modules during the first week of term. You are expected to make an informed choice before you come to Aston through the Initial Module Registration Form, and to book a Subject Advice session if you wish to make changes. You will not be allowed to change your module choices after the first week of term. You will be required to sign a final Learning Agreement or a Final Module Registration Form at this time.
There are no specific English language courses on offer at ABS. However, you are able to receive free help with written and spoken English through CELCA. More information can be found here:

For modules assessed by examinations, these are held at the end of each teaching period, eg. in January, for teaching period one. Students must remain at Aston for the examinations.
Please note: It is not possible for exchange students to re-sit examinations that they fail, nor is it possible to offer special assessments in place of re-sit (referred) examinations.
Teaching Period one results will be released in March.
Teaching Period two and Full Year results will be released in July.
Transcripts will be sent directly in the post to students after marks have been confirmed by the relevant exam board, and copies will also be sent to the home institution.
