Aston University and the University of Warwick are pleased to announce the Hackathon for Disaster Response, a 2-day event to bring together software developers and emergency management experts to hack out solutions to disaster-related problems. The event will focus specifically on data available via social media, and on structured data (open data, linked data) available from a variety of sources.
Problem Space
- Emergency management agencies (EMAs) need applications to communicate to the public during and after disasters.
- EMAs need to be able to locate resources and integrate complex data during and after disasters.
- The public needs to communicate with EMAs during and after disasters.
- The public needs to locate relevant information and resources during and after a disaster.
