Professional Mentoring Scheme

Bringing the best out of tomorrow's professionals. 

The Professional Mentoring scheme gives you as second year students, the opportunity to be mentored by business professionals (mentors) from a variety of disciplines, such as Accountancy, Engineering, Finance and Banking, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing, and Management Consultancy.

To support the many disciplines involved a number of organisations are participating including:

Accenture, Barclays, Bridgestone, BT, BMW Group, Birmingham City Council, Cap Gemini, Chiltern Railways, DHL, Ernst and Young, ESPN, General Motors, Intel, Lloyds Banking Group, KPMG, Jaguar Land Rover, Marks & Spencer, National Grid, PricewaterhouseCoopers and many SMEs.

If you are successful and are matched with a mentor, you will have to attend three compulsory events:

TRAINING SESSION FOR MENTEES:

  • Wednesday 24 October, 5-7pm, Main Building, G8
  • Wednesday 31 October, 5-7pm, Main Building, G8

(Note: You will only have to attend one of the sessions.)

MEET MENTORS EVENING

  • Thursday 1 November, 7-8.30pm, Conference Room 1, Aston Business School Building.
  • Thursday 8 November, 7-8.30pm, Suite 5/6, Lakeside Conference Centre, Aston University. 

(Note: As many mentors travel several hours to Aston campus, you will have to be flexible and attend the session chosen by your allocated mentor.)

How can Prospective Mentees Join?  

As a second year undergraduate student, you will apply online and the mentee application will re-open again on 1 October 2012. It will close on 16 October and you will be informed whether you have a place on 23 October. You may alternatively like to join our Peer Mentoring Scheme.
