Recognising Business Excellence
Awards Ceremony

Our annual Awards Ceremony is an opportunity to recognise the achievements of our talented students and graduates during which prizes will be presented by partner companies to undergraduate students for their academic achievements in the year.

Academic Staff at ABS will also be presented with Beta Gamma Sigma membership as well as two undergraduate students Arjun Singh Aulak and Shan He who have produced outstanding results. During the ceremony, Mohammed Hasan will receive the prestigious BGS Honouree Chapter Award. Mohammed is one of Aston Business School’s successful MBA Alumni; he will talk about his career journey and some of his astounding achievements.

As well as hearing from our special honouree member, guests will also hear briefly from two of our more recent graduates, Michael Bandar and Akmal Saleem, who are already making strides toward a successful career.

The Award Ceremony will provide an excellent opportunity to network with our partner companies, senior staff at Aston Business School and also alumni at the event. You will also be able to share your valuable experience and knowledge with our aspiring students.

About the speakers:

Mohammed Hasan has built a successful career in the property industry during a difficult period for the industry. He is currently engaged as an Advisor with a number of the UK's most successful companies.

Until September 2011, Mohammed was Associate Director at Abstract Group of Companies (one of the UK's leading commercial property development, investment and advisory groups). Abstract is a keynote investor in Birmingham having developed Colmore Plaza which attracted Carlyle Private Equity to the city for its first major real estate investment.

He is a dedicated supporter of his alumni, serving on the Development of Aston University and also serves as a council member of the Taxpayer's Alliance in the West Midlands.

Michael Bandar graduated in BSc International Business and Management in 2011.Since the age of 15 he has been self -employed working on a variety of business ventures.

A recent Management and Strategy Graduate from Aston University, Michael has gained a wider knowledge of business theory, some of which he has been able to implement to the benefit of his businesses which are mainly within the leisure industry.

Akmal Saleem graduated in BSc Marketing in the class of 2009, and is currently running a digital marketing agency, Brand786.co.uk.

His company who has secured work with companies such as Vodafone and Subway. He has created a brand and web presence for a company that was featured on BBC’s hit show Dragons Den, CompareTheCoffin.com, amongst a number of other web development, strategic branding, email marketing, creative design and conversion rate optimisation projects.
