Aston University works -
as do its graduates
ASTON UNIVERSITY'S graduate employment record goes from strength to strength according to one of the most influential league tables in the country.
The Financial Times newspaper's latest survey rates the Birmingham based university as having the best record for graduate recruitment in the UK. Of the 98 universities in the FT ranking, only Aston scores 100 points for employment.
This consolidates Aston's position over the last decade as the number one university to attend for those students looking to quickly make their first step on the career ladder.
Stewart Comfort, head of the school liaison and careers office at the University, said: 'Aston graduates are much sought after by major companies for employment in the UK and abroad.
'Employers recognise the high quality of our degree programmes and their relevance to business and the professions.
'More than three quarters of our students take a professional placement [sandwich] year as part of their degree which gives them a massive advantage over other graduates in the labour market.
'There is no doubt this is highly attractive to school and college leavers and one of the reasons why applications to the University are up so steeply again this year.
'Although we regularly top the tables for graduate employability what is particularly pleasing about this survey is it takes into account from which universities major employers want to recruit graduates,' Comfort continued.
'Being sought after by some of the UK's best companies proves that our students are particularly well equipped to meet the demands of industry.'
'We can now be very confident that Aston really is the place to study for those keen to start work soon after they graduate,' he said.
